Serving as Family

The Connect Team is our greeting and hospitality team that serves on Sunday mornings at New City Church. They have the responsibility of welcoming people into the New City family by providing a warm smile, a cup of coffee, and resources to help them connect. They also oversee refreshments, keep us stocked with communion elements, and provide visitors with information about New City Church.

The Connect Team is made up of four weekly teams that have enough volunteers to cover two services and welcome visitors from the “street to the seat”. This includes a parking team, door greeters, lobby & hallway greeters, and a Connect Bar attendant. Their job is important because it can be overwhelming to visit a church for the first time. They make sure visitors are welcomed, given clear directions, and are given opportunities to learn more about becoming a part of our family.

The Connect Team does an incredible job welcoming visitors in a way that is warm and genuine. A common testimony we hear from visitors who desire to partner with us in our New City Class is how well they were welcomed when they visited New City. We are thankful for them and the way they lead us in welcoming others as Christ has welcomed us. That is motivation behind everything they do, to show hospitality and welcome others in a way that points to the Father’s welcome of all who trust in Jesus!

I asked one of our Team Leaders what they enjoyed most about serving with the Connect Team. She said the opportunity see our visitors welcomed in a way that displays the love of Jesus and helps them become a part of our family, not only through Sunday worship services, but also through becoming a part of a Missional Communities (our version of small groups).

She also said the opportunity to lead and be a part of a team. Serving with the Connect Team is a great opportunity to build relationships within in the church. When you regularly serve with a ministry team, you get to know your brothers and sisters better and you have the opportunity to see them grow in loving and serving others. You also get to see them step out and grow in using their gifts for the good of others and even try serving in new areas in order to grow as leaders!

If you have been visiting with us, serving is a great way to build relationships and connect with our church family. The Connect Team is one of several ministry teams that serve on Sunday mornings. There is also New City Kids, Worship Team, Tech Team, and Prayer Team. While all of these teams serve in different areas, with each you’ll have the same opportunity to be a part of a team, build relationships, and grow in loving and serving others as Jesus loved and served us!

If you would like more information about our serving with one of our ministry teams, visit the SERVE page at our website: https://www.newcitymacon.org/serve. We’d love to help you get connected!
