There's Something More That You Should Know About Abortion
The fifth undercover Planned Parent video was recently released. The discussion in these videos is enough to make most anyone sick to their stomach. It is difficult for me to watch the videos. I am saddened beyond words with how matter-of-factly the Planned Parenthood leaders talk about the brutal killing and dismembering of human beings. I am equally saddened by the defense of Planned Parenthood by so many, including our government's highest offices. My heart is genuinely heavy.
But I am saddened by something else.
I am saddened by the thought that there may be thousands and thousands of women and men who have made the decision to abort and are daily condemned by their guilt and shame. I am saddened for the doctors, nurses and technicians who may have once performed those procedures and though they no longer do, they are daily reminded of their horrific offence. Make no mistake. The offence is horrific. A child was tortured and murdered. But...
There was another brutally tortured and murdered for these very acts. He was innocent of any wrong, yet he suffered beyond measure until the very moment that he died. His name, of course is Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus, the innocent took the sins of the guilty to the cross (I Peter 2:24). The wrath of a holy and righteous God against sin was poured out on Jesus, there on the cross (Romans 3:24-26). It is here, in His life, death and resurrection that we find our forgiveness - forgiveness for little white lies, forgiveness for cheating, for stealing that candy bar as a kid, and forgiveness even for abortion. There is no sin greater than Jesus, our Savior. There is no sin that He cannot and will not forgive.
A short run through the Scriptures will show you - God is faithful to forgive. He forgave Abraham's lies, a king's adultery and more than one murderer. In fact David, Israel's beloved king was a murderer and he was also loved and forgiven by God. The Apostle Paul who wrote most of the New Testament oversaw the murder of one of Christianity's first disciples, yet God loved Him and sent His Son, Jesus in loving pursuit.
What I want you to know is that Jesus forgives abortion. And when he does, He removes our sins "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12). I plead with you to believe this good news! To live in the victory over sin that Jesus has secured for you. I hope that you will hear with joy His quiet whispered reminders that you are His and you are loved and in that, I hope that the horrible reminders of your sin will be cast out... as far as the east is from the west. And in your forgiveness, in His great grace and mercy, I pray that you will be free from your guilt and shame - in Christ there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1) - and free to be a voice for both the voiceless who die and the many wounded who desperately need to know that Jesus makes them whole.
