Our Favorite Family Advent Devotionals

The first Sunday of Advent is just a few weeks away! Christmas is such an exciting time of year and holds so much potential for worship. But for many families, mine included, the busyness of the holiday season can often overshadow what we really celebrate at Christmas.

Advent most simply means “arrival.” During Advent, we remember the arrival of our Savior as a baby, born in a little barn in a little town called Bethlehem. We also look forward with anticipation and hope to his second arrival, when he will return to fully and finally defeat sin and Satan and restore everything to the way it was meant to be. There is so much to celebrate! Without an intentional plan though, we can become distracted by all the other things pulling at our attention during this season.

An Advent devotional can be an excellent tool for turning our hearts and minds toward our true treasure, Jesus, instead of what the world tell us we should treasure. As part of our efforts to partner with parents in discipling their children, we have compiled a list of recommended family devotionals for Advent. Our hope is that using one of these devotionals will help you guide your children to see the beauty of our Savior as we celebrate his coming.
